Why
your air ducts need cleaned
Look up at your home's vents. All
sorts of nasty monsters - dust, pollen, animal dander, mouse droppings,
dust mites, fungus and bacteria - could all be pouring out onto you and
your family. In fact, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has
found over 105 known carcinogens in typical home air. Not sure if your
home needs its air ducts cleaned? Click here to
take our air-quality test.
Even new homes have been found to contain particles of construction
materials, chemicals and drywall.
To help
solve these problems, the American Lung Association recommends having your
air ducts cleaned.
How we clean your vents
By using a state-of-the-art truck-mounted
vacuum. A 10-inch diameter vacuum hose is attached to your ductwork and
your system is placed under negative pressure. While the vacuum draws
loosened debris out of your home and not discharged into your
living environment.

All vent covers are air
washed. |
| 2. |
Interior surfaces of
your duct work are then power brushed. |
| 3. |
After your ducts have
been brushed, our forward skipper snakes its way from the register to
the main line discharging 200 pounds per inch of compressed air in a
360° pattern. |
| 4. |
Then the main lines of the system are
cleaned. Our technicians will power brush the inside walls, top and
bottom of the ducting, with the reverse skipper discharging high
pressure air in a 360° pattern. This will loosen the dirt and debris
in the main lines which the vacuum will remove. |

The final steps are
to clean the plenum, the heat exchanger, and the furnace. The fan and
motor are cleaned and lubricated, and a multi-point system check is
performed. |
The benefits of air
duct cleaning
-
Clean systems are
less likely to break down. Nine out of ten A/C system failures are caused
by dirt and dust.
-
Saving on monthly
heating/cooling bills. Research by the U.S. EPA shows that buildup of
.042 inches of dirt on a heating or cooling coil can result in a
decrease in efficiency by 21%. Clean systems restore capacity and lessen
running time.
-
Dust on furniture is
reduced. Dust is made up of dirt, pollen, fibers, mold spores, hair and
other allergy causing particles. About 95% of these particles will pass
through your filter and back into your home.
-
Maximum airflow
possible from your registers. The dust that stays in your system will
accumulate on the fan blades of the blower motor, the grills, or the
inside of your ductwork. This buildup in your air ducts can reduce the
flow of air up to 40%.
-
Allergy sufferers may
find relief. Now acknowledged as a major allergy and disease-causing
problem by leading medical authorities, poor indoor air quality has
prompted doctors and allergists to commonly prescribe furnace and air
duct cleaning as one of the ways to reduce allergy problems.
-
To ensure good indoor
air quality in your environment. The EPA states that indoor air is up to
100 times more polluted than outdoor air; now consider that according to
the American Lung Association most people spend 90% of their time
indoors.
